He finished high school at Provencal High School and completed his education in training as a machinist in Shreveport. For 48 years, he worked as a foreman at Riley Beaird Industries. At home, he loved working on cars and small engines and machines. Rose gardening was a long loved hobby of his and he was a prize winning rosarian with the American Rose Center, known for growing beautiful red Lincoln roses. He was an avid antiques and vintage collector in his retirement and always enjoyed finding a good deal on treasures at estate sales and garage sales. O.H. had a great sense of humor and loved playing the fiddle in his younger years at the Saturday night Jamboree in Vowells Mill. He continued his life as a musician playing the fiddle and piano and working as a piano tuner for some years. He truly was a jack of all trades. He loved life and his family and made a friend wherever he went.
