Norma Jo Shirey

Funeral services were held for Mrs. “Norma Jo” Rouse Shirey, age 92, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 East 5th Street, Homer, LA, on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., and Rev. Ray Anderson, officiated. Interment followed at Summerfield Cemetery in Summerfield, LA. Visitation was held the funeral home from 12-1 p.m., prior to the service.

Our mom was a beloved child of God. We are so grateful that God chose her to be our mom. She wasn't simply our mother, she was our best friend. She was always there to listen, guide, and mend. She touched so many lives throughout her lifetime. She will be dearly missed, and she will forever be in our hearts.

Norma Jo was born November 24, 1933, in Brownwood, TX, to Joe and Beatrice Stewart Rouse. She entered into peaceful rest on July 14, 2026, in Shreveport, LA.

She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Ricky Shirey; and four siblings.

She is survived by son, Gary Shirey of Summerfield, LA; two daughters, Paula Farley and husband Donald of Summerfield, LA and Pamela Scriber and husband Larry of Lisbon, LA; nine grandchildren, LeeAnn Pease and husband Kevin, Melissa Shirey, Dawn Bowman (Lowery) and husband Chris, Jesse Scriber and wife Ashley, Jason Shirey, Erik Scriber and wife Anethlaine (A), Shane Farley, Allen Shirey, Alex Farley and wife Amy; fifteen great-grandchildren, Haley Rimmer, Camryn Sanders, Zachary Perkins, McKayla Middleton, Stephanie Scriber, Jax Scriber, Jake Saska, Alanah Lowery, Ava Farley, Colton Scriber, Aubree Shirey, Tucker Scriber, Cooper Scriber, Laikley Lowery, and Weston Farley; two great, great-granddaughters, Lilly Jo Rimmer and Adah Rimmer; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Norma Jo’s family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Scott Haynes and Dr. Mark Haynes for the care and compassion shown to her throughout her life.

Pallbearers were Jason Shirey, Allen Shirey, Shane Farley, Alex Farley, Jesse Scriber, Erik Scriber, Jake Saska, Zachary Perkins, Jax Scriber and Weston Farley.
