Norma Beth Padgett

Private graveside services honoring the life of Norma Beth Martin Padgett were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, located in Stanley, Louisiana. Rev. Timothy Roberson officiated the service. Norma was born on September 19, 1942 in Houston, Texas to Willie Norman Martin and Blanche Roberts Martin. She entered into eternal rest on January 2, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Norma retired from the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Department where she worked for Emergency Services as a 911 Dispatcher. Norma was always actively involved in her children's numerous activities such as Girl Scouts, cheerleading, and beauty pageants. She was Homeroom Mother and the Girl Scouts Cookie Chairman for many years. Norma loved babies! After having her own children, she cared for a total of twenty-one foster children and was able to keep up with some of them long after they left her care. She had a broad vocabulary and loved working the daily newspaper Crossword and Jumble puzzles. Preceding Norma in death are her parents; husband, Bob Padgett; daughter, Pamela Celeste Cochran; brothers, Raymond Martin and Norman Glen Martin; and her niece who she thought more of as a little sister, Anita Faye. She is survived by her brother, David Wayne Martin; son Lonny Padgett and his wife Wanda; daughters, Phyllis McHalffey and her husband Mark, Peggy Myers, Tonna Brock and her husband Walter, and Victoria Jackson; grandchildren, Ashley Myers, Kaitlin Rawlinson, Kelsey Williams, Kasey Brock, Macala Cochran, and Leauxgan Brock. Then there is the much anticipated and newly born great-grandson, Trevor Wayne Williams. She is also survived by friends: Dottie Johnson, her Bingo Buddy and confidant of many years; and Clay Clark, her very close and supportive friend that never missed a day without calling her at "10:00 p.m. sharp"!
