Nelwyn Marcine Simpson

Nelwyn Marcine Simpson was born December 15, 1931, in Minden, LA, and passed away peacefully at her home on May 23, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James R. Simpson; her sons, Gerald W. Simpson and Gary Simpson; daughter, Donna L. Simpson; sons-in-law, Jerry Ouilette and Freddie Jernigan; and her parents, Martin and Ola Newsom.

She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Jernigan, Wanda Ouilette, Kathy Jacobs and husband Dwight, and Linda Holland and husband Rich, who lovingly cared for her in the final years of her life.

She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all who loved her.

She was a devout member of Germantown Baptist Church for many years. Her memories will live on in stories told at kitchen tables, in the dirt under fingernails that still turn soil, and in the stubborn, steady hearts of those who came from her.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Minden, LA.
