Nancy Dare van den Boom passed away unexpectedly in Houston, Texas on November 28, 2021 to be with her Lord and Savior. Nancy was born in Dover, Delaware on February 15, 1957 to Myron and Myrtice Dare.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose- Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. until service time.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Myron and Myrtice Dare. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Will van den Boom of Houston, TX; her daughter, Kimberly Diane Harless of Bossier City, LA.; her son, William Dare van den Boom of New Braunfels, TX; two granddaughters, Hollyn Lewis and Hayden Harless of Bossier City, LA.; brother, Dr. Daniel Paul Dare and wife, Sally of Vicksburg, MS.; sister, Diane Dare Vey and husband, Jeff of Bullard, TX.; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other special members and friends she dearly loved.
On December 31, 1977, Nancy married the love of her life of 44 years to Will van den Boom. She was the mother of two outstanding children, Kimberly, who also followed in her mother's footsteps as a nurse and William, who followed in his father's footsteps in the oil and gas industry, along with her two loving granddaughters who meant the world to her.
Nancy attended Fair Park High School, Class of 1974 and graduated from The University of Texas School of Nursing, Class of 1980. Upon graduating from nursing school, Nancy became a compassionate and caring nurse. She took time from her career to raise her children and was a fulltime volunteer in the schools the children attended. She was very caring and loved by all. Once her kids were grown, she continued her nursing career in Houston, Texas in 2005 and had to eventually retire in 2015 due to many medical issues she dealt with daily.
Nancy was the most loving and dedicated wife and an outstanding mother. She dedicated her life to her two children and sacrificed everything to ensure their success as responsible and contributing adults to society. Nancy's family was her purpose in life. She loved them to the fullest and family was everything. Nancy was one of the most selfless people known with a beautiful soul. She put everyone's thoughts and needs before her own.
Nancy loved being amongst her many friends, loved playing and listening to all music, and thoroughly enjoyed country and western dancing. She also loved the Houston Astros and especially the LSU football team, win or lose. Geaux Tigers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brian Stanley, JD Vey, Chris Vey, Jason Dare, Paul Dare, Andrew Dare, Danny Gilcrease and Henry Grabener.
