Nancy Meeks Johnson Wyatt

Funeral services for Nancy Meeks Johnson Wyatt, 87, will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery, 8801 Mansfield Rd. in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Friday, September 3, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Kimberly Warhurst. Nancy Meeks Johnson Wyatt was born into this world June 9, 1934 in Taylortown, LA during the night to William Clyde Meeks and Nellie Marlin Meeks. She went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2021 after a long battle with failing health in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. She was one of seven siblings. Often, she reminded her children and grandchildren of what it was like growing up during the Great Depression. She was a woman of simple means. She didn't need the most of material things, for she had a greater appreciation for things in life. She cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren. She attended grade school at Elm Grove and graduated high school from Greenwood High in 1952. She went on to work in her early years, at the young age of 15, at New Greenwood Café. After marrying her first husband, and father to her children, Tommy Ray Johnson, Sr., they came to own T.R. Johnson Roofing. Nancy eventually retired from Lucent Technologies in Shreveport, LA in 1990. Nancy married Tommy Johnson, Sr. on June 7, 1952 in Lewisville, AR. They had two children, Janet Louise Johnson Clark and Tommy Ray Johnson, Jr. After Tommy's passing, Nancy raised the two children on her own for many years. She later married Arvin Wyatt on July 29, 1977 in Marshall, TX. She had been a widow since Arvin's passing in December 1997. Nancy is preceded in death by her parents, William and Nellie Meeks; siblings, Martin Meeks and wife, Beverly, Sarah Arnold, James Grappe, Leonard Grappe, Mavis Grappe and Lillian Grappe; and both of her cherished husbands, Tommy Ray Johnson, Sr. and Arvin Arnold Wyatt. She is survived by her children, Janet Clark of Shreveport, LA, Tommy Johnson, Jr. of Shreveport, LA and stepdaughter, Sheila Oyler and family of Utah; grandchildren, Bill Clark, Jr. and wife, Tasha of Valliant, OK, Kimberly Clark George and wife, Nessa of Stonewall, LA; great-grandchildren, Haley Clark, Brayden Clark and Dustin Clark of Oklahoma and Miranda Hicks of Stonewall, LA; and great-great-granddaughter, Riverlynn Mia of Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Bill Clark, Sr., Nessa George, Carl Hicks, Joe Johnson, Jr., Gregory George and Gregory Arnold. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Ray Johnson, Jr., Bob Arnold, Aaron Straight and Yvonne Aldrich. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their kindness and care. A special thank you to Tommy Johnson, Jr. and Bob Arnold for their nurturing care during Ms. Wyatt's final days.
