A funeral service honoring the life of Nancy Jo Byford McMellon, 82, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Rose-Neath Chapel in Mansfield, Louisiana with Bro. Tommy McMellon officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Center, Texas. Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2022, until the time of service. Nancy passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022, in Mansfield, Louisiana. Nancy was born in Center, Texas on April 5, 1939, to Lafayette and Cecil Stephens Byford. She graduated from Center High School and then attended LaMar Tech before marrying and building a family. Nancy received an Education in Art from Woodrow Foster. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Joaquin, Texas, and a member of Westbank Art Guild. Nancy found joy in art expression through many mediums. She helped cook for Joaquin Senior Center, preparing meals for the elderly, was an active reader, and was a member of Logansport Friends of Library. She had a love for painting, sewing, quilting, gardening, cooking (gifting others with her culinary skills), and reading, especially studying God's word to know him more. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Herbert O. McMellon, her mother and father; her brothers, Harold Gene Byford, Larry Byford; and her infant sisters, Carroll Darliene Byford, and Barbara Unice Byford. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Lynn Savage and her husband Tony of LaGrange, KY, Melinda Guccione and her husband Ronald of Port Sulphur, LA; her step-son, Alton Odis McMellon of Stonewall, LA; her sisters, Pat Evans of Garrison, TX, Debbie Sitton and her husband Ray of Nacogdoches, TX; her brothers, David Byford of Houston, TX, H.L. (Huey) Byford and his wife Tommye of Mansfield, LA; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren. Honoring Nancy as pallbearers will be Daniel Hawks, Justin Hawks, Cameron Wisher, Eric Guccione, and Craig Hebert.
