He proudly retired from Yellow Freight after 38 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.

A proud graduate of Plain Dealing High School, Elgin was not only known for his impressive work ethic but also for his quick wit and loving nature. He was a devoted and loving father and Pawpaw, always willing to lend a hand or share a laugh with his family and friends.

Elgin had a myriad of interests that kept him actively engaged throughout his life. He found joy in woodworking, fishing, hunting, and small engine mechanics. His hands were a testament to his craftsmanship and dedication, whether it was building something from scratch or fixing an engine.

His devotion to his faith was equally significant, as he was an active member of The Pentecostals of Bossier City. Elgin served on the church board under four different pastors and was a vital member of the Usher staff. His contributions to the church community reflected his deep commitment to service and fellowship.

Married to his wife, Shirley Ruth Goss, on October 27, 1960, Elgin cherished their union and built a loving family together. His love extended beyond his immediate family to encompass his community, where he was recognized as a friendly face and a reliable presence.

A passionate LSU football fan, Elgin enjoyed cheering for his team, showcasing yet another layer of his vibrant personality. Elgin’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, hard work, and faith will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
