Morris 'Rusty' Wayne Willis

Morris “Rusty” Wayne Willis, 65, left this earth in the early morning hours on Friday, April 12, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. His last days were spent at home, surrounded by family and loved ones.

He was born on April 26, 1958 in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Captain Shreve High School. He was a quiet, simple man who loved life and was determined to beat his illness, fighting hard until the very end.

Rusty was an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed fishing and deer hunting. His hunting lease had the fattest deer around as he fed the deer better than himself. In his younger years he was also an accomplished water skier, known for his skill at barefooting and deep water barefooting (coming out of the water without skis). He was also known for his incredible pecan pies, pralines and cakes – all of which he loved sharing with others.

He is survived by his two sons, Jared B. Willis and wife, Dani of Mountain Home, Arkansas and Alex R. Willis and fiancé, Ashley of Shreveport and his brother, Mark Willis and wife, Helen of Doyline, LA.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Alford Morris and Wanda Willis of Shreveport.

Services for Rusty will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. followed by the service and celebration of his life at 3:00. Officiating the service will be Reverend Andrew Brewster.
