Mona Elizabeth “Liz” Mahaffey Snead, 65, of Tenaha, TX passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026, surrounded by family.
Liz was born in Shreveport, LA, on March 14, 1961, to William ‘Billy’ Wayne Mahaffey and Mona Raye Gladden.
She graduated from Notre Dame HS, in 1979; ready to show the world who was the boss! Liz was a determined, free-spirited human that never let obstacles get in her way. She loved hard, cared deeply, and was truly an angel on Earth.
Liz cherished her time spent with her daughter Megan Hodge. They loved playing cards and reading; the lake and road tripping; shopping and couponing. She wasn’t gonna miss a bargain!
With her marriage to Stacey Dewayne Snead on March 19, 2004, she gained another daughter, Cassie Snead (Christian); and two sons, Cody Snead (Presli); Justin Mahaffey (Taryn). They loved traveling and golfing; hunting and fishing; camping and ATVing; The Big Ace and the annual crawfish boils.
The ones she cherished beyond measure called her Nana: Christopher and Zachary Farrow; Makena Hodge; Kayleigh Ann Snead; Cody Claire Snead; Jamison, Camille, and Breeland Mahaffey.
P.S. Her dog Laney was the favorite.
Among the many waiting to welcome her home are her daddy (Billy Wayne); her uncle, Troy Jackson; her nephew, Ryan Mahaffey; and her father-in-law, Don Snead.
Liz is survived by her husband, Stacey Snead; mother, Mona Mahaffey; brother, Mark Mahaffey (Cathy); aunts, Nita Verges (Jim), Sally Jackson; uncle, Pat Mahaffey (Amy); and many nieces and nephews.
The visitation will be held at Rose-Neath in Mansfield on July 12, 2026, from 12-1pm. Service at 1pm. Immediately following the service, we will be gathering at the Mansfield Golf and Country Club for an End-of-life Celebration for Liz and Don Snead. 1629 LA 513, Mansfield, Louisiana.
