Mildred Joyce Lowery, 90, of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away at home Tuesday, September 29, 2026, after a short illness.
She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 12, 1935, to Albert and Nettie Mitchell. Mildred attended Fair Park High School where she met the love of her life, Harry Lee Lowery. They were happily married on August 6, 1952, for 68 wonderful years. She worked for 20 years in the welfare department for the state of Louisiana. She truly was a dedicated wife and served alongside her husband in many volunteer positions.
She was a dedicated mother and illustrated her love by teaching her children to have a good work ethic and to love their families. Mildred loved life and had joy despite many physical hardships. She was very generous and always was willing to meet the needs of others, lend a helping hand or donate to a worthy cause. She loved to laugh, was an amazing storyteller and enjoyed making others smile. Only second to her family, was her great love for the game of football. She always rooted for the underdog and anyone who played against the Dallas Cowboys.
She is preceded in death by her parents, five siblings and son in law Scott Hayes. She is survived by her son Michael Lowery and wife Debbie her daughter Dianne Lowery Hayes four grandchildren, Jessica Heflin and husband will, Justin Lowery and wife Melissa, Daniel Hayes and wife Desiray and Kyle Lowery and wife Meghan and great-grandchildren Micah Heflin, Sara Heflin, Caroline Lowery, Scott Hayes, Addison Hayes, Adah Hayes and Emma Bounds.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home, P.O. Box 4196, Monroe, LA 712-114196 or the charity of the donor's choice.
Serving as pallbearers will Kyle Lowery, Justin Lowery, Daniel Hayes, Scott Hayes, Micah Heflin and Will Heflin.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, October 2, 2026 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St, Shreveport, LA, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Brother Don Tinsley.
