Mickey Love

Mickey Love passed away peacefully at home April 1,2026. He was born September 23, 1936, in Vicksburg, Mississippi to Nick and Frances Love. The family moved to Minden in 1938, and he was a lifelong resident .

Mickey was a proud graduate of Minden High , class of 1954. He excelled in Baseball , Track, Chorus, Cornet and Trumpet in the band under the tutelage of Bob Grambling.

Mickey attended Northwestern in Natchitoches and was an Alumnus of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.

After a 2 year service in the U.S Air Force, he became the first band director at the newly formed Lowe Junior High School in Minden. His Junior High bands were well known and won many awards performing in events across the ArkLaTex.

Mickey was a State Farm Insurance Agent in Minden for over 50 years. He helped many families and built relationships for a lifetime. He was a true servant of Christ and conducted his business in the same manner.

Mickey was an AVID outdoorsman. Whether it was Ducks on Bistineau, Fly Fishing on Caney Lake or in the woods of Bienville Parish, he loved being at one with nature and in the company of friends and family in the outdoors. He also shared his love of golf with friends at home and in his travels across the country.

Mickey was probably most at home singing in Church. This was his ministry. It was his true gift from God. He sang at countless weddings and funerals, blessing many families along the way. He really loved it. He was a lifelong choir member at First United Methodist for years and was also the choir director at the Minden Presbyterian Church for 17 years. He sang with the Minden Community Chorus and truly enjoyed the performances!

Mickey was married to Kathy Love for over 50 years . They shared a love of music and performed together in church quite often. They were also blessed to travel abroad on numerous occasions, and they had a wonderful life together. Kathy passed away in March 2018.

Mickey was truly blessed to spend the last years of his life with Frances Irving Love. They spent the majority of their time together with Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren . Whether in Minden, Florida Oklahoma, or Texas they were always up for the adventure!

Mickey is survived by wife, Frances Irving Love. Brother, Rev. Terry Love and wife Martha, Shreveport. Son, Jeff Love and wife Mary Beth, Defuniak Springs, FL. Daughter Holley Love, Minden. Son , Chris Love and wife Keri, Broken Arrow, OK

He is also survived by numerous Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with memorial service beginning at 11:00 a.m. at First Methodist Church in Minden, Louisiana with Bro. Steve Berger officiating.
