Michael Donald Lawrence

Funeral services for Michael Donald Lawrence, 57, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Greenwood with Rev. Kenny Joyner officiating. Interment will follow at NW LA Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA. Michael was born March 25, 1961 in Bronx, NY and went to be with the Lord on August 15, 2018 after a lengthy illness. Mike proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Cryptologic Technician aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. He later graduated from Long Island College Hospital. He worked at several local hospitals before retiring from Willis Knighton Health System. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Joni Porterfield Lawrence; son, Brandon R. Lawrence and wife Kimberly of El Dorado, AR; daughter, Brooke A. Lawrence and fiancé Charles Mejia; grandson, Levi Michael Mejia of Shreveport, LA; sister-in-law, Jill Patterson and husband Doug; brother-in-law, Mike Porterfield and wife Ann; along with numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Greenwood, P.O. Box 307, Greenwood, LA 71033, St. Judes Children's Hospital, or to the charity of donor's choice. The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Philip Garavaglia, Ashley and Sabrina and to the Northwest Louisiana Nephrology team and staff, Dr. Gazi Zibari and the John C. McDonald Transplant Team, and Dr. Frederick White, Dr. Maxwell McDonald, Dr. Kirk Grantham and staff, Dr. Timothy Nicholls, Dr. Raja Zabaneh and the WK Outpatient Dialysis Team, and WK Hospice Team.
