Michael "Mikey" DeBroeck

Michael "Mikey" Anthony DeBroeck was received into the loving arms of Jesus on September 17, 2021, with Lauren, his loving and devoted wife of 16 years, by his side.

A memorial service honoring the life of Michael "Mikey" Anthony DeBroeck will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, September 25, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 522 East Flournoy Lucas Road Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Rothell Price. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the church.

Mikey's journey began on March 27, 1985 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Henry "Brocky" DeBroeck, Jr. and Patti DeBroeck. He attended Captain Shreve High School where he met and fell in love with his beautiful wife, but graduated from North DeSoto High School in 2003. He cherished the lifelong friendships he developed throughout his school years. He was a licensed plumber by trade, but eventually found a greater desire and passion for the oilfield, and joined Enable Energy (CenterPoint) where he has worked for the last 12 years in Shreveport and North Dakota. Describing Mikey as a hard worker would be an understatement. He was a valuable, dependable and most of all, very well liked and loved employee by all who knew him.

To know Mikey was to love Mikey. Family time was important to him and dinners with his parents, brother, sister and their spouses, while the kids ran around and played, was something that he looked forward to. Mikey was a God-fearing, family-loving, joke-cracking, never play by the rules, optimistic, and generous man that was there at the drop of a hat for anyone in need. Most of all, he was a devoted and always present father to his three amazing children, Anna Claire, Hudson, and Trey. His greatest passion of all was spending individual quality time with his children.

Hunting and fishing has been a love and hobby of Mikey's since he was a little boy, but his love for it grew when his children were born. He and Hudson enjoyed spending quality time together fishing, especially in their secret spot. Mikey always kept busy while at home, whether it be working outside in the yard or building something. Having his son by his side, guiding and preparing him for the future was important to him. Whether the memories are of life lessons and bonding or of teaching his son mischievous behavior, Hudson will forever cherish each and every memory.

During high school years Mikey enjoyed playing football. With his love of sports, it was no surprise of his excitement of the children excelling at different sports that suited each of them. Trey found a passion for being on the field and Mikey not only thoroughly enjoyed watching him shine but had an adoration for being next to him on the field, coaching and guiding him every step of the way. From numerous practices to every game, Mikey was his biggest supporter and when Trey looks back on his beginning years of sports, his Daddy will always be the biggest part of each thought.

There's an unexplainable bond that a daughter has with only her Daddy and Anna Claire definitely has that special love. From the time she was born until now, Mikey found such great joy watching Anna Claire grow into the beautiful young lady she is today. He taught her to be strong, love God, and was the greatest example of what type of man she should one day marry. From daddy-daughter date nights, hunting adventures, doing yard work together, to late night store runs to buy whatever she wanted, they did it all together and the happiness and laughter those times brought to the both of them will forever be etched into her heart.

Mikey was truly "one of the good ones". He was an example to so many of how to live life to the fullest. He had compassion and a love for all children and loved each of them the same. He fought for what was right and didn't give up when the fight got hard. He loved and supported his wife through each and every adventure they encountered. He was the rock that held it all together and illustrated what a devoted and loving husband truly is.

He is preceded in death by his son, Michael Anthony DeBroeck, Jr.; grandparents, Charles and Pat Grotheer, and Henry and Faye DeBroeck, Jr.; and grandparents-in-law, James and Betty Nugent and George and Sara Markham.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 16 years, Lauren DeBroeck; most adored and loved children, Anna Claire, Hudson, and Trey DeBroeck; beloved parents, Henry "Brocky" DeBroeck, Jr. and Patti DeBroeck; sister, Misty Smith and husband, Shane; brother, Christopher DeBroeck and wife, Stephanie; father-in-law, Jim Nugent; mother-in-law, Adelia Lindsey; sister-in-law, Sara Ellenburg and husband, Mike; brother-in-law, James Nugent; special aunts and uncles, Florence and Larry Rayburn and Marianne and Bibo Franklin; nieces and nephews, Addison, Logan, Hayden, Mason, Mikayla, Nathan, Hanna, and Cayden.
