Michael Lee Davis, 75, left this world sooner than expected and sooner than we would have ever wanted. We will have a Celebration of his Life on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., at The Healing Place Church (THP), 8957 Kingston Road, Shreveport, LA.
Mike was preceded in death by his son, Lee Van Davis; his mother, Elizabeth Rozell Davis; his daughter Denise Elizabeth Davis; and his father, John Pierre Davis.
Mike attended Mount Olive College in North Carolina with a Bachelor of Science; he was on the Dean's List. He served in the United States Airforce with the Radar Squadron from October 1960 - February 1964. He was an active member of The Healing Place Church (THP) in Shreveport, LA. He was a Mechanical Engineer with Gordon Grid.
Left here to cherish his memories are his wife, the love of his life, Doretta Davis; his son, Brian Mapes; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Andy Wood; and last but not least his grandchildren, Nicolas Lee, Camron Alan, Alyssa Nicole, Zachary Isaiah, Addison Elizabeth, Zander Kane, and Isaac Aaron.
Mike lived the life he loved and made a conscious effort each day to make the world around him a little bit better. He loved the Lord and was a true servant of God which was reflected in all he did for others. He was an amazing husband, a wonderful father, and an awesome "do it all grandfather." He was and will forever be a Legend.
Mike always said he was blessed beyond measure with all of the family the Lord had given him to share life with. His grandchildren were all individually his "FAVORITE," he made a point to tell each one of them they were his favorite (separately of course). He loved to tickle them; he was the tickle monster. Mike could do it all from rebuilding motors to building doll beds for his granddaughter. He loved camping, fishing, and hunting with the family. He was a GREAT cook and was often called "Chef Miguel" by his wife. He had an extreme love for reading and doing crossword puzzles. He loved taking the kids to the movies. He enjoyed gardening anything outdoors and he was loving it. Mike played pool twice a week with his pool buddies. He enjoyed watching golf as well as taking a stab at playing. He enjoyed deep sea fishing. He had many adventures. He was known by his children and grandchildren as the "Grammar Nazi" because he believed that everyone should speak correctly. The Lord blessed him with many talents that he utilized as a ministry to anyone in need.
Mike was in awe of God's Beautiful creation. He truly immersed himself with the beauty of the World and wanted his grandchildren to enjoy and take value of the beautiful world around us. He taught each of us to live each day as if it were your last, love and value your family, and leave it all in God's hands. He will forever be loved and missed.
