Michael Ray Cooper

A Memorial Service honoring the life of Michael "Chynx" Cooper will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Pinecroft Baptist Church. Eulogy for the service will be given by Caleb Cooper.

Michael, a native of Shreveport, Louisiana passed away on October 29, 2026. A gifted musician with a lifelong passion for rock and roll, Mike was also a talented artist, an avid movie lover, a history buff, and a treasure trove of native American folklore, and a member of the legendary band, Sargent Rock of Shreveport.

Mike will be deeply missed by the many friends who loved him and whose lives he enriched with his humor and unforgettable personality. Those closest to him will especially miss his multiple daily phone check-ins.

Michael is survived by his mom, Frances Cooper; brother, Wayne Cooper; sister, Elizabeth Willingham; daughters, Aleya Cooper and Alexis Ozgun; son, Derek Cooper; grandchildren, Jayden Cooper and Elliott Wcinovich; nephews, Bradford and Winston Willingham and Cole and Caleb Cooper; and  niece, Georgianna Willingham.

Michael is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Cooper (2024); father, Cletus Ray Cooper (2001) and nephew, Alexander Bradford Cooper (2016).

A special thank you goes to those dear friends and family members who went above and beyond to make Mike's days at the nursing home a little brighter, his spirits a little higher and life a whole lot more enjoyable. You know who you are, and Mike certainly appreciated you.
