Michael Rayburn Burch, 74, of Stanley, Louisiana passed away June 23, 2025. He was born March 1, 1951.
A proud native of Stanley, Louisiana, Michael carried with him a deep love for family and the game of basketball during his life. He was a standout athlete and a member of the 1968 Stanley High School State Championship basketball team. His talent and passion for the game led him to continue his athletic career at Northeast Louisiana University (Now ULM), where he played collegiate basketball.
After graduating from college, Michael spent a few years teaching and coaching basketball at Florien High School in Florien, Louisiana. He left teaching and went to work for Southern Natural Gas Company, the company his dad and brother worked for, until retiring after 20 years.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Rayburn and Joan Burch, and brother, James Stephen “Stevie” Burch. He is survived by his brothers, Joe Burch (Alisa) and Ricky Burch (Debbie); sons, Michael Brandon Burch (Melanie), Rayburn Lucas Burch (Erin), and Adam Hayes Burch (Annalyn); and grandchildren, Tyler Shields, Brynli Burch, Piper Burch, Hudson Burch, Tylen Burch, Braylen Burch, Jordyn Burch, Addalyn Burch, Aiden Burch, Asher Burch, and Ashlyn Burch.
A graveside service celebrating the life of Michael will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 28, 2025, located at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Logansport, Louisiana. Honoring Michael as pallbearers will be Tylen Burch, Braylen Burch, Aiden Burch, Joey Burch, Stephen Burch, John Ballance, and Wesley Boddie. Cody Johnston will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Mt. Olivet Cemetery Fund- 352 Hwy 763, Mansfield, LA 71052.
