Merlene "Pete" Jackson

Funeral services for Merlene "Pete" Jackson, 81, will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Springhill, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Reverend Paul Zimmerman. Merlene was born on February 14, 1940 in Springhill, Louisiana to Robert and Geraldine Jackson and passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Merlene was a single mother and raised two children on her own. She was a hard worker, loved to tell funny stories and jokes and loved her family deeply. Family was most important to her. She retired from the radio and television industry after 50 years of service. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Billy Jackson and special son-in-law, Ronnie Crain. She is survived by her two daughters, Deborah Porter and husband, Kenny and Sharon Crain; granddaughter, Renee Schaffner, great-granddaughter, Hannah Morgan and numerous cousins and friends. Honoring Merlene as pallbearers will be Kenny Porter, Cary Brooks, Steve Schaffner, Paul Schaffner and Christopher Morgan. The family would like to express special thanks to Merlene's neighbors, Ken and Linda Carter, for taking care of her dog, Angel.
