Mercedes Cazelot

A funeral service for Mercedes Cazelot will begin at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Heart of Worship Church in Lettsworth, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at Heart of Worship Church in Lettsworth until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Heart of Worship Church Cemetery.

Mercedes Cazelot, age 83, of Marksville, born to Jules Cazelot and Pearl Dufour on October 23, 1941, passed away peacefully on July 26, 2025.

Mercedes enjoyed spending time with loved ones above all else. She was a nurturing presence, known as a mother figure, not only to her own children, but to many others. In her quiet moments, she loved reading and had a deep appreciation for the arts. Her warmth, generosity and kindness touched countless lives. She will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, James Glaviano (Brenda) of Denham Springs, Gregary Cope of Mississippi and Dwayne Riche’ (Annette) of Westlake, Louisiana; daughter, Chelaine Riche’ Lebleu of Baton Rouge; sisters, Lucille Ducote of Pineville and Barbara Gagnard (Gary) also of Pineville, as well as fifteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jules and Pearl Cazelot, nine siblings and two grandsons, Lance and Zachery Cope.
