BENTON, LA- A Funeral Mass for Melvin L. Fredieu, 75, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 16, 2014 at St. John Berchmans Cathedral. Monsignor J. Carson Lacaze will officiate. Interment will follow in Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City, LA. Visitation with the family will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 15, 2014 at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel.
Melvin was born on May 10, 1939 in Shreveport and passed away on June 11, 2014. He was a resident of Benton at the time of his death. He was retired from Formost Dairy after 40 years of dedicated service. He was a loving husband, father and will be greatly missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Dora Fredieu; 2 brothers and his infant son. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Bobbye Graves Fredieu; son, Kenneth Curtis Fredieu; daughters, Melanie Ann Goodrow and husband, Rodney, Julie Kitchings and husband, Chad; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dolly Thompson, Creola Linzay and husband, Clyde, Kathy Myatt and husband, Kenny; brothers, Charles Fredieu and wife, Marie, Robert Fredieu and wife, Susie, Benny Fredieu and wife, Jean.
