Our beloved Melvia Ann Denton Andrews of Summerfield, Louisiana went home to be with the Lord in the early afternoon hours of Wednesday, April 30, 2014. She departed peacefully and gracefully, in spite of her long and painful battle with cancer. There will be a memorial service celebrating her life on May 10, 10:30 at the Homer Presbyterian Church with Reverend John McClelland officiating. Ann was born on May 21, 1933 to parents, Wilson and Maggie Denton. She graduated from Louisiana Polytechnic Institute with Bachelor of Arts in Education, and from Louisiana Tech University with Masters of Arts in Elementary Education and Masters of Arts in Reading Education. As an officer in the United States Marine Corp she married Roi E. Andrews on November 10, 1956. In the years that followed, Ann raised a family, taught school and continued to love her church, family and friends. She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, enjoyed bird watching, gardening and spoiling her grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband LtCol Roi E. Andrews, Ret., and sisters Joyce Bagwell and Beth Newman. She is survived by sons Mark Andrews, Kirk Andrews. and wife Penny Sullivan Andrews; and daughter, Jean Andrews Wallace and husband James T. Wallace Jr.; brother in law Billy Joe Bagwell; sister Marjorie Huey and husband Randel; brothers Dan Denton and wife Barbara, Don Denton and wife Sue, Dave Denton and wife Donna, Gary Denton and wife Margaret; grandchildren, Joseph Doss, Katherine Ann Boggs and husband Chris, Chet Andrews, Cody Andrews, Colt Andrews; great-grandchild, Merritt Boggs and many very special nieces and nephews.
