Melissa Ann Dykes Timmons was born April 23, 1973, in Shreveport to Linda Kay and Charles S. Dykes of Logansport. She passed away on October 21, 2026, following a brief illness.
After graduating from Stanley High School in 1991, Melissa furthered her education and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She used these skills and compassion to help others by working at the Pine Grove Nursing Center for 28 years. Melissa also cared for her disabled mother for 17 years while holding down a full time job and raising a family. Soon after her mother’s death, Melissa’s father needed assistance due to failing health and she once again selflessly stepped in to provide support and care for him so he could remain in his home.
While growing up, Melissa loved yearly family trips to Branson and later, she enjoyed sharing girl trips with her sister, Tracy. While on these trips, she seemed to have a knack for finding the best places to eat. Melissa also enjoyed being a boy mom to Tanner and Trenton and most recently, a girl Nonnie to Montana and Sunnie.
Melissa was preceded in death by her parents, Linda Kay and Charles S. Dykes and her grandparents Charles and Gloria Dykes and Horace and Pauline Jones.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Jason Timmons ; son Tanner Timmons and his partner Chelsie Fisher; son Trenton Timmons; granddaughters Montana and Sunnie Timmons; sister Tracy Chreene and husband Dustin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m at Bethel Congregational Methodist Church, 1511 Union Grove Road, Pleasant Hill, Louisiana. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location with Pastor Brian Jennings officiating. A graveside service and burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kris Durr, Dustin Chreene, Matthew Timmons, Eric Hassan, Tom Sakre, and Brian Lafleur. David Timmons, Robert Wilson, and Mike Parker will serve as honorary pallbearers.
