EL DORADO, AR: Melba Rea Farrar Orr, 90 years young, gained her Angel Wings on August 14, 2019, 4 p.m. at her home in Parkers Chapel, Arkansas with family and husband, William Orr, present. Melba born was to James Z. Rea and Eula V. Garris in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana on June 6, 1929. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Lee Odis Farrar, two brothers, Britian Rea and James Chesley Rea, and two sisters, Beatrice Rea Lee and Lona Lee Hammit. Melba was a happy child, who was always dancing and singing. She grew up in the Weldon Community and spoke many times of going to church at Weldon Baptist Church and going to the old Methodist Church after the Baptist services were over in the evenings. She always loved visiting the old church and cemetery which caused her to reminisce about younger days. She loved spending time outdoors especially at Corney Lake where she enjoyed camping and fishing. Melba loved the spring time flowers and summer gardening. She was a licensed daycare owner two times in her life and many of the children she watched still remember her today. Melba was a Park Host with her husband Lee O., for the US Corp of Engineers at Lake Millwood in Arkansas for several years. Melba leaves behind her husband of ten years, William "Bill" E. Orr; five children, Ronnie L. Farrar and wife Cecilia, Rickie V. Farrar and wife Cindy, Kathy Dell New and husband Larry, Roger Evan Farrar and wife Penny, and William "Billy" E. Orr. Jr.; fifteen grandchildren, Ronald "Chris" Farrar, Brian S. Farrar, Marsha Ruiz, Justin Smith, Jason Smith, Clint R. Farrar, Shaliegh F. Lamkin, Megan F. Folse, Kylie F. Thompson, Tracy S. Cross, L. "Dusty" Sweet, Gretchen N. Sewell, James "Duffy" Houston, Eddie Orr, and Christian Orr; 32 great-grandchildren; two great, great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held for Melba at Weldon Baptist Church of the Weldon Community near Bernice, LA, on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Terry Burke, officiating. Interment will follow at Weldon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 9-11 A.M., prior to the service. Pallbearers will be Clint Farrar, Chris Farrar, Dusty Sweet, Brian Farrar, Duffy Houston, and Jason Smith. In lieu of flowers honoring Melba, her family suggests memorials be made to Weldon Cemetery Fund, C/O Reba Lee, 14190 Hwy 2 Alt, Bernice, LA 71222.
