Melanie Rene DeWitt, age 42, of Hot Springs, passed away from a tragic motorcycle accident on Friday, July 17, 2020. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Bossier Chapel.
Melanie was born on April 18, 1978, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Robert Eugene DeWitt and Madeline Rabon DeWitt.
Melanie was a very happy person and was always saying she loved you when she was on the phone or in person. Melanie had a free spirit, she loved any kind of excitement and having fun, anything outdoors, camping, water sports, but especially fishing. She was always there to help a friend or anyone in need. Her greatest love was her family and friends. She loved spending time with her nieces and nephews. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Melanie is preceded in death by parents, Robert and Madeline DeWitt; grandmother, Doris Rabon; two aunts, Gretchen Rabon and Charlotte Woods, and cousin, Forrest Gauthier. She is survived by her girlfriend, Julie Beard of Hot Springs; her two sisters, Monica Madrigal and husband, Richard and Kelly Strother and husband, Steven; two brothers, Christopher and Brandon Thomason; her beloved nieces and nephews, Taylor and Tony Thompson, Austin and Sandy DeWitt, Erin and Derek Batts, Macy DeWitt, Baleigh Madrigal and Jacob Wakefield; her great-nephew and niece that held a very special place in her heart, Lincoln Batts and Adlee DeWitt; best friend, Cody Hanson; extended family members; many other good friends and her fur babies, Gracie and Stevie.
