Mayo Lavallais

A celebration of life for Mr. Mayo Lavallais will be held on December 2, 2023, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Markville, located at 334 Acton Road, with Father Abraham Varghese officiating at 8:15 a.m.

Mayo Lavallais, age 89, of Marksville, entered into rest on November 24, 2023. He was born in Marksville, Louisiana, to Joseph Lavallais and Mary Porterie.

Mayo was a devoted Catholic and longtime member of Saint Richard’s Catholic Church of Hickory Hill. He was a member of Knights of Peter Claver for 50 years and attended church faithfully every Sunday. He loved spending time with family and was greatly loved by everyone. He will be deeply missed.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph Lavallais, Sr., and Mary Porterie; long-time love, Marion Prier Desselles; sisters, Lavern Lavallais, Sadie Abbott and Genave Milo; brothers, Eldria Lavallais, Pearly Lavallais, Horace Lavallais and Joseph Lavallais, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Blaise Desselles (Anna) and four bonus children of Marksville; sister,Mardria Lavallais-Augustine of Hessmer; Goddaughter/niece, Patricia Ann Jacobs of Marksville and Godson/nephew; Bruce Lavallais, of Kansas, Missouri, as well as three grandchildren and two bonus grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on December 2, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Marksville. A graveside service, officiated by Deacon Ken Primeaux, will be held at St. Richards Catholic Cemetery located at 265 St Richard Loop Rd, Marksville, LA 71351 followed by repass at Knights of Peter Claver Hall located at  312 St Catherine St, Marksville.

Active Pallbearers include Sterling Jacobs, Chris Draper, Harold Thomas, Jr., Derrick Augustine, Reginald Desselles, Joseph Jeffery Augustine, and Deon Hudson.

Honorary Pallbearers include Shawn Batiste, Johnathon Augustine, Joseph Oscar Augustine, Theodore Batiste, Robert Desselles, Brandon Kyle Lacarte, Jermiah Augustine, Darel Augustine and Champ Desselles.
