Max was a tractor salesman and owned his own business, Sasser Construction, on Toledo Bend. He served as the Fire Chief of the Hot Wells Volunteer Fire Department in Sabine Parish after he retired. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. He loved his family and was the kind of daddy every little girl should have!

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 61 years, Melva Sasser; daughters, Stacy Strange (Doug Cox) and Vickie Colvin; three grandchildren, Madison Heard (Mark Morgan), Courtney Colvin (Anthony Devora) and Travis Colvin and wife, Eryn Colvin; great-granddaughter, Langlea Skye Morgan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends.
The family would like to express special thanks to the staff at The Guest House and Christus Hospice for the excellent care, compassion and love given to Max in his time of need.
