Mattie Mae Youngblood Turner, age 97, of Minden, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026, secure in her faith and resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mattie was born on July 26, 1928, in Bienville Parish, Louisiana, to Joe Roy and Carrie Crowell Youngblood. On February 20, 1946, she married the love of her life, Harold Cecil Turner, and together they shared a devoted marriage rooted in love, faith, and companionship for 60 years.
Mattie worked for South Central Bell Telephone Company for over 30 years, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic. After retiring, she and Harold joyfully traveled across the country in their motor home with friends. They especially cherished spending the spring and fall months in Branson, Missouri, working at The Lawrence Welk Show and forming lasting friendships.
A faithful follower of Christ, Mattie lived her life as a reflection of her love for Jesus. She was an active member of First Baptist Minden, where she spent countless hours volunteering with the DORCAS sewing ministry, serving others with humility and grace. Mattie also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and sewing, using her talents to bless those around her. Above all, she treasured time spent with her great-grandchildren, delighting in each moment shared with them. Her loving, generous spirit and quiet faith were evident in all that she did.
Mattie is survived by her son, Jimmy Harold Turner; granddaughters Holli Turner Dixon and husband Phil, and Tyler Turner Rominger and husband McLeod; great-grandchildren Bradley Dixon and wife Madison, Grant Dixon, Elizabeth Dixon, Porter Rominger, and Evangeline Mae Rominger; and her niece, Sandra Byley.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Cecil Turner; her parents, Joe Roy and Carrie Crowell Youngblood; and her siblings, Vertis Youngblood Gandy, Joy Roy Youngblood, Jr., and Thurston Youngblood.
Visitation will be held at 8:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 211 Murrell Street, Minden, Louisiana 71055.
Pallbearers will be Phil Dixon, McLeod Rominger, Bradley Dixon, Grant Dixon, David Langley, and Charles Freeman.
Mattie leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and service, and her family rejoices knowing she is now at home with her Savior.
