Mattie Elizabeth Penn

Funeral services for Mattie Elizabeth Dyess Penn, 86, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel with Rev. Matt Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the funeral home. Mattie was born November 19, 1931 in Dry Prong, LA to Hugh and Mary Dyess and went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2018 in Whitehouse, TX. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, and Nana. She always gave all her heart and loved unconditionally. Mattie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alvy Lee Penn; sisters, Clarice Ates and Correne Beebe; and brother, Edgar Dyess. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lori Smith and husband Danny; sisters, Carlene Burns, Doris Irby, and Collene Beebe; and grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Smith. Honoring Mattie as pallbearers will be Bob Brady, Steve Martin, Carey Penn, John Smith, Raymond Dale, and Roger Penn. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Whitehouse United Methodist Church, 405 W Main St, Whitehouse, TX 75791. The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Douglas Coltman, his nurses Kelly and Sondra of Trinity Clinic, and the Ferrell family and their staff at Tender Loving Elderly Care.
