Funeral services for Mary "Mellie" Millicent Hall Saddler, 69, will be held on Monday, August 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Providence Road Baptist Church Cemetery. Officiating the service will be Reverend McKee Williams.
Mellie was born on March 25, 1952 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Harmon and Fannie Hall and passed away Friday, August 6, 2021 in Keithville, Louisiana.
Mellie was a beautician for many years and later in life became a school bus driver for Caddo Parish Schools. She was a member at First Southern Methodist Church in Stonewall, Louisiana. She was a loving wife and "Mimi", even acting as Mimi to every teammate and friend her grandsons ever had. She was well loved and respected by all who knew her. She treated everyone as if they were family. Her contagious smile and laugh will be remembered by all.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 43 years, Bobby "PopPop" Saddler; sister, Frances Beason; brother, George Hall; niece, Lisa Marie Hall; brother-in-law, Roger Sadler and sister-in-law, Sandra Sadler.
She is survived by her daughter, Missy Melton and husband, Casey of Keithville, LA; son, John Fred Saddler and partner, Andrew Glasow of Washington, D.C.; step-sister, Jayne Lipscomb of Shreveport, LA; three grandchildren, Christopher Noble, Tripp Williams and Kayla Melton; nephews, Farrell Sadler and family and Steven Sadler and wife, Lacy and family; nieces, Lucy Shih and husband, Raymond, Kathy Reeves, Debra Anderson and husband, Joey and family and Chris Brossette and husband, Charles; great-nieces and nephews, Heath Hayden and his three children, Michael Stuckey and wife, Rachel, Elise Heflin and husband, Joseph, Brandi Reeves, Kara Reeves and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Honoring Mellie as pallbearers will be Casey Cobb, John Terrell, Lee Terrell, John May, Heath Hayden and Michael Stuckey. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Taylor Burford, Frank Haltom, Kevin Cobb, Steve Dixon, Layton Terrell, Dane Terrell, Skipper Williams and Gregg Sellers.
The family would like to express their gratefulness to Kathy Terrell, her dearest friend, for a lifetime of friendship and sisterhood. Words do not express how thankful we are for her selflessness and caring for our mother. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center staff and to the staff of Amedisys Hospice.
