Funeral services for Mary Brice Parker, 103 years, 7 months, and 15 days old, will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday. Officiating the service will be Pastor David Farmer.
Mary was born August 7, 1922 in Haynesville, Louisiana to James Brice Gable and Mary Lee Beaird Gable and passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Mary graduated from McCloud High School and Southwestern Junior College. She devoted her life to her family as a loving housewife and was a faithful member of the First Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Mary found joy in the simple, meaningful moments of life — camping under open skies, getting lost in a good book, cooking and canning with care, and gathering around the table for games like 42, Rook, and Chicken Foot. Above all, she cherished every family gathering, large or small, and filled them with warmth, laughter, and love.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband, A.J. (Doc) Parker; and son, James A. Parker. Left to cherish her memory is her son, Dickie Brice Parker and wife, Susan; daughter, Marlene Solomon and husband, Leslie, and daughter-in-law, Margaret Parker; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be Leslie Solomon, Clint Solomon, Chad Solomon, Levi Solomon, Charlie Parker, and Mike Gable. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Parker Brice Solomon, Steve Parker, Scott Parker, Kenny Parker, Brice Parker, and Kaison Parker.
The family wants to give special thanks to Garrison Nursing Home for the excellent care and love given to our Mother.
