With deep sorrow and abiding gratitude, we remember the life of Mary Elizabeth Johnson, lovingly known as “Lib,” who passed peacefully on August 4, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born on January 6, 1943, Lib was a beacon of warmth, compassion, and quiet resilience. She found joy in the everyday and grace in caring for others—a gift she shared freely with family, friends, and all fortunate enough to cross her path.
Lib was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 60 years, Wayne Johnson; her daughter Wendy Johnson; her brother Joe Hubbard; and her sister Marie Robertson—each held close in her heart and now once again by her side.
She is survived by her daughter Patricia Williams and husband Greg; her son Walter Johnson; her beloved grandchildren Haley Woods and fiancé Morgan Moore, Clif Woods, Bailey Womack and husband Cody Womack, and Hayden Williams; and her cherished great-grandchildren Chloe Woods, Alee Martin, Chase Womack, Olivia Woods, Carter Womack, Bryson Woods, and Remi Wayne Moore. Lib is also lovingly remembered by her wonderful brothers- and sisters-in-law, a host of nieces and nephews, and her faithful canine companion, Molly, who brought her joy and comfort in every moment.
For 25 years, Lib served her community with kindness and dedication in the school cafeteria at Arcadia School, becoming a familiar and caring figure to generations of students. Her warm smile and gentle spirit turned meals into moments of connection. Lib was also an active member of her church, where her faith and generosity touched lives in quiet, powerful ways.
Her life was a testament to unconditional love, service, and enduring grace. Lib’s presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit continues—in every loving memory, every kind act inspired by her example, and in the hearts of those who carry her legacy forward.
A graveside service was held for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth “Lib” Johnson, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Mt. Mariah Cemetery. Rev. Perry Anderson officiated the service.
Honoring her as pallbearers were Walter Johnson, Greg Williams, Cody Womack, Clif Woods, Paul Cook, and Hayden Williams.
