Mary Morris Kendrick

Mary Morris Kendrick, 66, went home to be with Jesus on October 20th, 2026, after complications from a fall and brief hospitalization. She was surrounded by those who loved her most at the time she passed.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana, with graveside services following immediately thereafter at Forest Park West Cemetery. Officiating will be Pastor Kyle Smith.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana to Franklin Jordan Morris and Theresa McGullion Morris on December 4th, 1959, five minutes ahead of her twin sister Martha, Mary earned her cosmetology license in 1982. She brought beauty and joy to this world in countless ways.

Above all, however, Mary was an incredibly strong Godly woman, whose steadfast faith throughout a storm-filled life encouraged and inspired those around her also to cultivate and nurture their own relationship with Jesus and place their faith in Christ alone. Her faith allowed her to love unconditionally, forgive absolutely, and laugh without fear of the future, just as the Proverbs 31 woman. Mary had a remarkable green thumb and creative spirit, enjoyed barbering, and loved spending time with her family, who believed her to be practically perfect in every way.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Jere Kendrick; parents Frank and Theresa Morris; brother Lee Kelly; daughter, Carly Dunbar; and nephew, Kevin Kelly.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Chelsea Alexander and son-in-law, David; twin sister, Martha Morris, chosen sister, Nita Burcham, brother, Dan Kelly and his wife, Julia, sister, Ramona Kelly, and sister-in-law, Betty Kelly; grandsons, Caeden and Reilyr Alexander, and granddaughter, Arielle Kendrick and her fiancé Ashlyn; nephew, Timothy Kelly; nieces, Shannon Kelly and her wife, Viyeka, Kristen Brown and her husband, Ian, Meghan Kes and her husband, Viro, Tara Johnston and her wife, Mel; great-nephews, Holden and Rohan; great-nieces, Jaclyn and her husband, Chris, Georgia, and Joona; and great-great nephew, Wesley; and many cousins who loved her dearly. She also leaves behind her longtime close friend, Montie Dunbar, as well as her beloved animals, who sadly do not understand what has happened, Chewy, Elsie, Jake, and Scarlet.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Drs. Sandifer, Nelson, Mitchell, Blair, and Likki and the nursing staff at Willis Knighton South, all of whom were incredibly caring and compassionate in our time of great need.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the charities Mary so strongly believed in and supported: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the ASPCA.
