Mary Griffin

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Jordan Griffin, will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Arcadia Louisiana Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the church.  Burial will follow at Hurricane Cemetery.

Mary was born August 27, 1936, in Arcadia, LA, to Jones Elmer “Boy” and Ruby Wood Jordan. She was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on September 9, 2022.  Mary was a devoted member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and she loved her church family. She taught 1st grade for 20 years in the Ouachita Parish School district. She loved being a teacher and loved to tell stories about her school babies. She imparted that love of learning to her pride and joy, her granddaughter, Ansley.

Mary was one of a kind. To know her, was to love her, and in return, she would give her love. She lived her life to the fullest. If you saw a green Mustang convertible in town, you knew it was her, with her white hair, big sunglasses and a smile. She loved to be outside, and enjoyed mowing her yard, and tending to her flowers. She was a loving and devoted mom, grandmother, sister, and friend to all that knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents “Boy” and Ruby Jordan, and her husband C.E. Griffin. She missed C.E. terribly and there was a great reunion in Heaven upon her passing. Mary highly anticipated the fulfillment of prophecy and looked forward to eternity in Heaven.

Left to cherish her memories are her son Reed Griffin and wife Tammy, granddaughter Ansley Griffin, sister Jeanette Keen, nieces Paula Sumner and husband Bill, and Debra Miller and husband Terry, nephew Kenneth Keen and wife Shirley, and by numerous other loving family and friends. Mary’s love for her family was unmatched. She and her sister were joined at the hip. She was just the most perfect loving mother to Reed. There are no words to describe how much she loved her granddaughter, Ansley.

Honoring Mary as pallbearers will be Brian Spurlock, Ed Land, Todd Pesnell, Robby Byrd, Ron Williams, and Bill Sumner.

Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2042 Hwy 519, Arcadia, LA 71001.
