Mary Fincher Barrington, age 73, passed away at home on October 15, 2026 following a lengthy illness. She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith and music that touched the lives of generations.

Mary was a gifted musician whose love for music began at an early age. She learned to play the piano as a young child and transitioned to the pipe organ as a teenager. For more than sixty years, she faithfully served as a church organist for numerous churches, sharing her gifts in worship and bringing meaning and beauty to the lives of countless congregations.

Her love of music extended beyond the sanctuary. Mary led children's and youth music programs and directed numerous musical productions at Claiborne Academy. She had a special gift for recognizing and nurturing the talents of young people, encouraging them to develop and share the gifts God had given them. Among those she most proudly encouraged were her own grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Above all her musical accomplishments, Mary's greatest treasures were her faith and family. She was a beloved wife, a devoted mother, and a proud grandmother. Her grandchildren, Landri, Avery, and Jude were her pride and joy, and she delighted in watching them grow and discover their own God-given gifts.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Mary Francis Fincher, and her sister Marcia.

She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Michael; her son, Patrick R. Barrington; her daughter, Laura Olivier and husband Jude. Also, her sisters, Phyllis Batusic and Patricia White; Her brother, Phillip "Butch" Fincher; numerous nieces and nephews, and the beloved grandchildren-Landri, Avery, and Jude.

Mary's life was a testament to the power of music, the importance of faith, and the lasting impact one person can have on the lives of others. Through the hymns she played, the young musicians she encouraged, and the love she gave her family-her influence will continue throughout generations to come.

Though she will be deeply missed, the music she shared, the faith she lived, and the lives she touched will forever remain a lasting part of her legacy.
