Memorial Services will be held for Mr. Marvin Ray “Red/Papa Red” Auttonberry, age 84, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 405 E. 5^th Street in Homer, LA, on Friday, June 9, 2023, at 5:00 p.m, with Dr. Chris Stephens, officating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4-5 p.m., prior to the service.

Red was born April 14, 1939, in Epps, LA, to Ransom and Lillian Auttonberry. He entered into rest on Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Homer, LA. Red grew up in Epps, LA, with his three sisters, LaVern, Faye, and Barbara.

Meeting his wife, Alma, in his early 20’s, they raised two children, Steven and Susan, in Haynesville, LA.  He worked for Halliburton and retired after 29 years of service.  He loved his hobbies of gardening and working on tractors. Upon retirement, he had the opportunity to travel with his wife and friends. His love for the outdoors led him to purchase lake front property on Lake Claiborne where he and his wife lived for the rest of their days. He enjoyed teaching his grandchildren how to fish and was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, and anyone in need.

Red is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Alma Lillian Hember Auttonberry; sister, Barbara Shepherd; and grandchild, Victoria Auttonberry.

He is survived by his son, Steven “Pickle” Auttonberry and wife Pam and their extended family; daughter, Susan Kuznik and husband Rich Silvas, three grandchildren, Victoria and husband Clayton David, Lawrence and wife Maddy Kuznik, and Zachary Kuznik, and other family members, relatives, and friends.

Red’s family would like to express their gratitude to Wayne Woodham, Linda Woodham, Terry and Teresa Mastny, the nursing staff of Regional Hospice, his caregivers, Audrey and Dorothy, and those who lent a helping hand for the care and compassion given to him during his final days.

In lieu of flowers honoring Mr. Auttonberry, his family suggests memorials and donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
