Marvin was a resident of Shreveport. He received his B.S. Civil Engineering degree in May 1959. After graduating, Marvin joined his family’s construction business known as Moncla Construction Company, Inc., and continued the business after his father’s death through 2007. Our Dad was a season ticket holder for LSU football games for decades, and he loved traveling down to watch his team play. He also enjoyed traveling the country on his Harley, and one road trip took him to Sturgis, South Dakota for the annual rally.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, First Lt. Albert Gene Moncla, USAF; wife, Dessie Windham Moncla; son, Michael Andre Moncla; and the mother of his eight children, Allison Miller Moncla. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Shari Moncla and Wende Moncla; sons, Gene Moncla, Marvin Jr. Moncla (Renee), Ben Moncla, Roger Moncla (Brenda), and Mark Moncla (Deborah); 17 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Honoring Marvin as pallbearers will be four of his sons, William Eugene Moncla, Marvin Moncla, Jr., Roger Moncla, and Mark Moncla, his grandson-in-law, Sean Forney, and his grandson, Zachary Moncla.
At the time of his death, he was a widower. Our Dad will be greatly missed, but we will love and cherish his memory forever.
