At the age of 67, Martin "Marty" Metoyer, Sr. passed away on the evening of November 7, 2021. He was born and raised in Cloutierville, Louisiana, and he lived a full life in Shreveport as a devoted husband, loving father of three children and grandfather of three grandsons. His compassionate demeanor has graced the lives of many and he was a true blessing to all those who knew and loved him. Marty was the true definition of a "Happy Man." He never met a stranger.
Funeral services for Marty will be held on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 4736 Lyba St. in Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Catholic Church Cemetery in Melrose, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr. in Shreveport with a Rosary following the visitation at 7:15 p.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Rainey Johnson.
Marty was born on January 2, 1954 in Cloutierville, Louisiana to Peter Metoyer, Sr. and Ella Metoyer and passed away on Sunday, November 7, 2021 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Marty's greatest joy in life was being with his family. Everything evolved around love, sharing and family. He was a member of the Knights of St. Peter Claver. He will be sadly missed by everyone that knew and loved him. Heaven just gained a happy angel.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Peter Sr. and Ella Metoyer; and his siblings, Peter Metoyer, Jr., Herbert Metoyer, Milton Metoyer and David Metoyer; two nephews, Jacob San Nicolas and Jacob Metoyer; and grandchild, Jaxon Metoyer. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 37 years, Frances Metoyer; son, Martin Metoyer, Jr.; daughters, Jessica Metoyer and Sarah Metoyer; grandsons, Joseph Metoyer and Zayden Theus; siblings, Nora M. Jones (Steve), Mary Ella Christophe (Anthony), Bruce Metoyer and Michael Metoyer; and sisters-in-law, Cynthia Metoyer and Mary Frances Metoyer. He was loved by multiple nieces, nephews, family & friends.
As Marty would say, "Maintain Dog."
