A celebration of the life and love of Martha Wheat Specht, 57, will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. with family and friends\' remarks beginning at 6:00 p.m. at Silver Lake Ballroom, 900 Market Street, Shreveport, LA. Light hors d\'oeuvres served prior to remarks. Graveside services will be held on Friday, June 3, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Hargis Baptist Church Cemetery in Montgomery, Louisiana with Rev. N.L. Young and Rev. Tom Lowe officiating. Martha was born June 3, 1964 to Ray and Ruth Wheat in Montgomery, Louisiana and passed away on May 30, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Martha was a resident of Shreveport. She worked in gas pipeline management at Arkla/Centerpoint Energy. She ended her career at McNeer Electrical Contracting. Her family and friends were her passion in life. She lived selflessly, loved deeply, gave abundantly, and was a peacemaker. Her passion for flower and vegetable gardening led her to become a certified master gardener. Her other passions included LSU sports, being outdoors, photography and beautifully wrapped and decorated Christmas gifts. Martha is preceded in death by her father, Ray Wheat. Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Ruth Wheat; son, Daniel Bryant; fiancé, Dayne Waxley and his children, Harrison, Heath and wife, Taylor, Hayden and wife, Madison and their children, Tate and Booker; sister, Elizabeth Wheat Bush and husband, Ron; beloved niece and nephew, Josie Bush and Tanner Bush; beloved bonus daughters, Jennifer Norwood and husband, Jeremy, and Allyson Smith and husband, Trey; grandchildren, Hayden Smith, Jack Henry Smith, Emma Norwood, Noah Norwood and Fletcher Norwood. Honoring Martha as pallbearers will be Scott Bryant, Jason Walker, Craig Steelman, Terry Steelman, Lonnie Silk, and Harrison Waxley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Gunter, Jay Bush, Richard McQuillin, and Hayden Smith. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation or the Hargis Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
