Martha Jean Hendry Kirkpatrick, age 76, of Minden, Louisiana passed away on June 27, 2026, at Heritage Manor Stratmore Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Shreveport, LA after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Memphis, TN on September 2, 1949, to her loving parents Dr. Phillip M. Hendry and Patricia Durr Hendry. Martha graduated from Minden High School and attended Louisiana Tech University. She worked in banking and for Dixie Paper Company from where she eventually retired as chief financial officer. She was a lifelong member of the Minden Presbyterian Church. She is predeceased by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. P. M. Hendry, and her daughter Tanya Patricia Kirkpatrick. She is survived by her son Blaine Kirkpatrick, wife Cindy and grandsons Carter and Owen Kirpatrick of Denton, Texas; her grandson Caden Twitty of Minden, and siblings Phillip “Buddy” Hendry (Rebekah) of Benton and sister Phyllis Hendry of Jacksonville Florida along with her niece and nephews Erin Shepard (Will), Gerald Stenklyft, III (Jessica), Jonathan and Matthew Hendry and numerous cousins and friends.
Martha will be remembered for the devoted care and attention she gave her parents during their final years, for being a loving and devoted grandmother and for the kindness she showed others. She loved playing Bunco with her friends, shopping and always coming home with the perfect gift for her grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on July 11, 2026, from 2-4 pm at Rose Neath Funeral Home, Minden LA. Her interment at Gardens of Memory to occur at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or donor’s choice.
