Martha Ann Thigpen Holemon

Funeral services for Martha Ann Thigpen Holemon, 84, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, 520 Herndon St., Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery in Miller County, Arkansas. Officiating the service will be Reverend Mimi McDowell.

Martha was born on August 14, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Andrew and Gertrude Thigpen and passed away Monday, November 11, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband of 53 years, Joe Harvey Holemon. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Joanna Holemon Ballard; son, Andrew Harvey Holemon and wife, Mariko; daughter, Lottie Holemon Franklin and husband, Cole; sisters, Nell Hevelone and Sue Wittman; two grandchildren, Andrew Cole Franklin and Sarah Lynne Franklin and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a member of Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was active and involved for many years. She was a longtime educator in north Louisiana and enjoyed working with children.

Honoring Martha as pallbearers will be Stan Barnett, Michael Gaines, Raymond Gaines, Roderick Gilbert, Andrew Hollier and Bryan McDaniel.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials may be made to Noel Memorial United Methodist Church, 520 Herndon St., Shreveport, Louisiana 71101.
