Marsolina "Butch" Montanez

Marsolina "Butch" Montanez, of Bossier City, was welcomed home on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at the age of 75. We can only imagine what a homecoming it was to be reunited with his loved ones and friends that proceeded him! A memorial service honoring the life of Butch Montanez will be held at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Rose-Neath Chapel, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, LA. Officiating the service will be Kenyon Ackeberg, Care Pastor at The Simple Church. We invite his family and friends to come share their memories and stories. Butch was a Vietnam Veteran and a General Motors retiree. He loved his vegetable garden, his morning coffee routine with friends at the café, reading his "shoot 'em up" western books and watching westerns. He never missed an opportunity to have a cook-out, expressly for getting the family together. When Butch cooked, no one left hungry or able to button their pants. Taking home leftovers was never an option. Butch was the definition of a patriarch. He was the go-to guy, the fixer. If you needed anything, he was the guy you wanted to see first. He believed in taking care of his entire family, which caused him to become the definition of the generous and loving father and the kind of grandfather to never miss an opportunity to spoil his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. Butch is preceded in death by his parents, Elias and Cindy Montanez; sisters, Frances, Carmen, Virginia & Rebecca; brother, Allen; son, Tracey; and daughter, Anna Lee. Butch is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Montanez; sisters; Dell Elmore and husband, Don, and Sindy Early; sister-in-law, Joyce Chapman; daughters, Sherry Mathews and husband, Jerry, Christina Edwards and husband, Craig, and Jennifer Edwards and husband, Adam; grandchildren, Jay Mathews, Lacey Mathews-Goldman, Brittney Reeve, Hannah Edwards, Cole Edwards, Carmen Edwards, Tyler Edwards, Marissa Edwards, Taylor Mayes, Zoey Mayes; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Cayden, Bailey, Amity and Kacyn; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Desai, Dr. Davis, Dr. Chico, Dr. Alla, Dr. Hamic and Amedisys Hospice for the care he received.
