Marshall was born on July 29, 1934 to Bryant and Zora Swain Smith in Gatliff, Kentucky and passed away on Monday, October 28, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Marshall served his country with honor in the United States Air Force for 20 years. This commitment not only exemplified his strong sense of duty but also laid a foundation for a subsequent 20-year career in civil service.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Marshall was a proud husband to Irene Howard Smith, with whom he shared a life filled with love and companionship for 63 years, following their marriage on December 14, 1953. Their enduring partnership was marked by mutual support and shared joys.

Marshall had a diverse range of interests. He enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, a passion that enriched his experiences and connections with others. An avid golfer, he spent many days on the green. His love for music was evident in his fondness for Blue Grass Festivals, where he found camaraderie and joy through the rhythms and melodies. In quieter moments, Marshall took pleasure in watching westerns, often losing himself in the classic tales of adventure and heroism.

He will be fondly remembered and truly missed by all who knew him.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Bryant and Zora Swain Smith; wife, Irene Smith; son, Keith Smith; brothers, Howard Smith, Willard Smith, Ed Smith, Glenn Smith and sister, Ruth. He is survived by daughters, Debbie Hunt, Marcia Walker, Sheila Muzzey, and Joy Smith; 11 grandchildren; 19 great- grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
