Marolyn H. Wolf, 90, of Benton, Louisiana, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2024, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 21, 2024, followed by a Mass Service at 11:30 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, Benton, Louisiana. Interment will be held at a later date at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana.
Marolyn was born on July 20, 1934, in Splendora, Texas to Jerome and Dollie (Baker) Holland. They moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, where Marolyn graduated from Byrd High School in 1952. After high school, our mom attended Louisiana Tech University, where she met the love of her life, Tony Wolf, and they were married in 1953. Marolyn was a stay-at-home wife and mother who raised five children at various military bases around the United States. After the last of her children entered high school, she took on a new adventure by joining the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Department as a Deputy Sheriff starting in April 1977 and retiring in January 1995. With all the children out of the house, Mom and Dad started traveling the world with many of their long-time friends, enjoying Viking River Cruises, taking bus tours, or driving in several countries.
Marolyn loved spending time with her daughters, daughters-in-law, and granddaughters taking trips to Dallas for Christmas shopping. They would also take girls' trips to New York, Charleston, Savannah, Atlanta, and the beaches of Florida. She was always ready to take any adventure with her family and friends.
Mom and Dad were members of St. Jude Catholic Church for over 40 years. Marolyn was also a member of the Ladies Guild at the church. She was also a long-standing member of the Cypress Area Garden Club where she enjoyed spending time with her friends, her daughters, and her daughter-in-law. She loved working in her flower beds and took pride in her flowers. Mom also started taking art lessons later in life and she really enjoyed painting. We are all proud to have her paintings hanging in our homes.
Marolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony “Tony” Wolf, sharing 65 loving years together; her parents, Jerome and Dollie Holland; her great-grandson, Logan Fowler Price. She is survived by her children, Cindy (John) Gibbs, Ed (Margaret) Wolf, Pam (Joe) Thornell, Theresa (Mike) Stevenson, and Charlie (Leigh) Wolf; grandchildren, Brandon Gibbs, Eric (Lauren) Gibbs, Matt (Vikki) Wolf, Tyler Wolf, Colin Thornell, David Thornell, Jon Michael (Sami) Stevenson, Mallory Stevenson (Tanner Price), Holland (Tina) Wolf, Audrey Wolf, Noah Wolf; great-grandchildren, Tucker Gibbs, Connor Gibbs, Liam Gibbs, Levi Gibbs, Lily Gibbs, Lennon Gibbs, Charlotte Wolf, Sam Wolf, Winnie Wolf, Anna-Kate Wolf, Lainey Stevenson, Parker Stevenson, Ellie Stevenson, Rosalynn Wolf, and Isaac Wolf. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews and long-time friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Mom’s long-time caregiver who became a part of our family and is loved by all of us, Cynthia Combs, who took great care of our mother. Night sitter, Keisha Evans who also took great care of our mother, and the staff, caregivers, nurses, and aides at Brookdale Memory Care.
We also would like to express our gratitude to Mom’s doctors who showed their kindness in dealing with her medical care, Dr. Hefner, Dr. Tivakaran, Dr, Sewell, and Dr. Walton.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that a donation be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, www.stjude.org in Marolyn’s honor.
