A graveside service for Mark Wilson, 64, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent. Officiating the service will be Pastor David Logan.

Mark was born on August 20, 1960 in Shreveport, Louisiana to John and Betty Wilson. He passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

He was an avid bird watcher and owner. Fred, the cockatiel, was his longtime companion of almost 25 years. A true animal lover, he worked at Audubon Zoo in New Orleans where he was able to explore his passion for animals, while taking care of them. He enjoyed attending the “Chicken Run” at Mamou Mardi Gras. He was caring, kindhearted and a good storyteller. He took care of his grandmother for many years before her passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Wilson and uncle, Paul Wilson. Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Holly Wilson Hopkins; brothers, Doug Wilson and Chris Wilson; niece, Katie Hopkins; nephews, Hunter Hopkins and Luke Wilson; great-nephew, Eli Hopkins; aunt, Nancy Wilson; cousins, Mike Wilson, Randy Wilson and Susan Wilson-Teague and a host of other family members.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Eli Hopkins, Hunter Hopkins, Chris Wilson, Doug Wilson, Luke Wilson, Mike Wilson and Randy Wilson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials may be made to Society for Nature Study, Inc., LSU Shreveport, One University Place, Shreveport, Louisiana 71105-2399.
