Funeral services for Marion Murlin Whatley, 87, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2024 at Central Assembly of God, 700 Highway 80 Haughton, Louisiana. A burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park, Haughton, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Sunday, April 7, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr. Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Chaplain Jay Valentine, assisted by Pastor Jeff Gravis and Pastor Ken Richmond.
Murlin was born on December 3, 1936 to Kelly Carl and Meda Pearl Whatley in Vivian, Louisiana and passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2024 in Haughton, Louisiana.
Murlin was a graduate of North Caddo High School, was in the Navy Reserves and the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Evette Hamiter, on August 14, 1964. He relished every moment as a beloved husband, Daddy, Papaw and Great Papaw. Murlin loved the Lord and served his church faithfully for many years. He loved camping, traveling and spending time with his family.
Murlin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Carl Whatley, Michael Whatley, Gerald Whatley and sister, LaJuan Williams. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evette Whatley; sisters, Lou Alice Hayes and Linda Giddens; brothers, Max Whatley and wife, Linda and Kermit Whatley; son, Robert Whatley and wife, Mimi; daughters, Rhonda Adams and husband, Rick, Donna Harbour and husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Aaron Adams and wife, Dallas, Wesley Adams, Taylor Fielder and husband, Nate, Pearson Harbour, Ty Whatley and wife, Kamryn, Jessie Harbour, and Peyton Whatley and fiancé, Jacob Hunter; great-grandchildren, Emory Fielder, Shepherd Fielder and Baby boy Adams on the way; as well as much cherished numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Central Assembly of God Church, 700 Highway 80, Haughton, Louisiana 71037 or Teen Challenge, 100 Meadowbrook Dr., Minden, LA 71055.
