Marilyn Ann Toney

Marilyn Ann Toney, 74, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on April 21, 2021 in Bossier City, Louisiana. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of service. Her grandson, Pastor Garrett West from the First Baptist Church of Jena, Louisiana will be officiating the service. Marilyn was born July 10, 1946 in Monroe, Louisiana to Henry and Joyce Beare Smith. She spent most of her life in Benton, Louisiana. There she met the love of her life, Billy, on a blind date that was set up by their neighbors. Billy and Marilyn were married on May 29, 1971 and would have celebrated fifty years together in May. Marilyn was a horse lover from a very young age. Through her passion of horse riding, she met most of her closest friends. She shared that fondness of animals to all her children. Her daughters, Jennifer and Tracey, had that same enthusiasm for horses, while the rest of the children stocked up on all kinds of other animals. Marilyn had a job she enjoyed at the Louisiana State Fair, organizing horse and livestock shows. She did this for many years before deciding to stay at home to keep her husband on track and in line. He would agree that she did that "quite well". Marilyn is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Billy; daughters Tracey Bunton and her husband, John, Kathy Scott and her husband, Roger, Jennifer West and her husband, Bart, Cheree Peterson and her husband, Morris, and son Joey Toney and his wife, Angie; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sisters, Janice Key and husband, Bob, and Eileen Holland and husband, Lee; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all their sweet friends and co-workers who have prayed, fed, and loved on them. They would like to give their deepest appreciation to Donna Dayries for her continuous presence and for taking care of difficult tasks, the Willis-Knighton Emergency Room staff who graciously accommodated the whole family, the nurses on the 3rd floor, and the St. Joseph Hospice nurses for their care and compassion.
