SHREVEPORT, LA - Maudie Marie Windham Foster passed away on Saturday, October 8, in Shreveport. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, at 3:00 pm at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive in Shreveport, with visitation beginning one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Rev. Steve Gilley will officiate.
Marie was born July 2, 1928, in Logansport, Louisiana, to Minor William Windham and Monta Sudie Kilcrease Windham. She married R. B. Foster in 1943, and together they raised four children. Marie worked for 45 years as a waitress and manager at Murrell's Grill, where she was known as "Miss Marie" and beloved by generations of Shreveporters.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she attended the Adult 1 Sunday School class and sang in the senior choir. She loved to read, visit with her family, and travel with her sisters. "Maw Maw," as she was known to her family, was quick to laugh and constant in her love for family, friends, and any visitor to her home.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, R. B. Foster, and a sister, Edith Watt of Salisbury, MA. She is survived by four siblings, Louise Hooper of Shreveport; Jo Nell Stewart of Baton Rouge; Lamar Windham of Chula Vista, CA; and Louella Gates of Deadwood, TX; by her children, Robert Earl Foster (Val) of Keatchie; Carl Raymond Foster (Mary) of Keatchie; Shirley Foster Murray of Carthage, TX; and Dottie Foster Watson of Dallas, TX; by her grandchildren, Steve Murray (Laura); Rebecca Foster; David Foster (Kitty); Carin Murray; Jeff Watson; Ashley Boulet (Jason); by 8 great-grandchildren; and by family friend Ashley Ebarb.
Honoring Marie as pallbearers will be Steve Murray, David Foster, Gary Watson, Alex Murray, Ken Holder, and Tommy Linder.
