Marie Spataro Foley, 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away quietly, Monday, May 30, 2022 at Martin Crest Assisted Living in Weatherford, Texas.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 204 Patton, Shreveport, Louisiana. Visitation with family and friends will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave. in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Father Matthew Long.
Marie was a native of Shreveport, Louisiana until she was 85 years old and then moved to Fort Worth, Texas to be closer to her daughter who could take care of her and look after her in her golden years. Marie was a graduate of Fair Park High School in 1945 and in April,1947 she married John Dewey Foley, Jr. They were married for 58 years until his death in 2005.
Marie is survived by daughters, Marsha Plengemeyer and husband, John and Jan Dawson and husband, Barney; son, Tim Foley and wife, Margaret; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Lowe and Shirley Foley; her magnificent seven grandchildren, Jennifer F. Andrews, Amanda F. Watson, Stephen Dawson, Christina D. Broyles, Patrick Foley, Michael Dawson and Eric Plengemeyer; 11 great-grandchildren, Cameron, Samantha, Dawson, Jake, Reid, Max, Brooks, Caroline, Sunny Faye, Ruthie June and Knox and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that made her life complete and that she loved so much.
Her passion for life was being with her family and cooking her famous Sicilian dishes that we all loved to eat and will try to continue to keep the tradition.
Honoring her as pallbearers will be Stephen Dawson, Michael Dawson, Patrick Foley, Eric Plengemeyer, Sam Broyles and Paul Lowe.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to Holy Angels, 10450 Ellerbe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71106, Shreveport, Louisiana 71106 or the charity of choice.
