Marianne Schwartz Jones

A private service for Marianne Schwartz Jones, 93, will be held at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor John Harp of Brookwood Baptist Church in Shreveport.

Marianne was born on December 24, 1928 to Andrew James and Lucille Gray Schwartz in Washington, D.C. and passed away on December 7, 2022 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Marianne was a resident of Shreveport and employed by Schumpert and Brentwood Psychiatric Hospital. Upon her retirement at 62, she started to work at Highland Hospital as a volunteer until 2019. Mom was always there for us, and we were always there for her. She will be terribly missed by her family.

Marianne is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Lee Jones; parents, Andrew and Lucille Schwartz; sister, Dolores Burton; and brother, Andrew Schwartz. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Charles L. Jones and James Jones and wife, Susan; daughter, Elizabeth A. Atkisson; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and brother, James Schwartz and wife, Katie.

The family would like to thank her caregiver, Cheryl Gelofsack, and the staff of St. Joseph Hospice for all the wonderful care, compassion and love given to Marianne.
