Marian "Ruth" Thompson

Funeral services celebrating the life of Marian Ruth Thompson, age 64, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday,  October 7, 2022 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Road in Shreveport. A visitation will be held Friday, October 7, 2022 at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. until service time. Officiating at the service will be Pastor John Harp of Brookwood Baptist Church.

Mrs. Thompson was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 5, 1958 and in her teenage years moved to Shreveport, Louisiana. Her father, Melvin Vaughn, opened his bakery shop near the State Fairgrounds in Shreveport.

On June 7, 1980, Ruth married her “knight in shining armor” Michael David Thompson and raised their only child, Anne Marie. Ruth will long be remembered as a loving “take charge…make it happen” wife, mother and friend to many.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 42 years, Michael Thompson; Anne Marie, daughter; Adiana Marie, granddaughter; both of Shreveport, Louisiana; sister, Linda Massey of Coushatta, LA; nephew, Melvin Massey and wife, Nena, also of Coushatta, Louisiana.
